Duncan Wakes-Miller

Chief Executive Officer
Bushlink and Northside Enterprise Inc.

Biography
I’m a purpose-driven CEO, founder, and advocate with over 25 years' leadership experience across entrepreneurship, social enterprise, corporate strategy, and public service. Today, I lead Northside Enterprise Inc. and Bushlink a NDIS-registered provider, ACNC-registered charity, and award-winning social enterprise creating real employment and inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities.

My leadership is grounded in the belief that real change happens when we build organisations and communities that are inclusive, sustainable, and purpose led.

Expertise and Contribution
At Northside, I focus on strengthening our impact, growing Bushlink’s environmental and social mission, and building a vibrant, sustainable future. My background spans strategic transformation, financial stewardship, social impact advocacy, and values-driven leadership.

Why I serve as CEO
I believe life is about giving more than we take and standing up when it matters most. Leadership is service with courage and humility. Doing not talking.

Other Roles and Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology, Sociology and Politics) from the University of Sunderland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Direct Marketing. I also serve as a volunteer firefighter with the NSW Rural Fire Service and a wildlife rescuer with Sydney Wildlife Rescue. Following the tragic death of my son Barney in 2020, killed by a drunk driver, I co-founded the Road Trauma Support Group NSW and serve as Deputy Chairman, alongside contributing to broader road safety reform in New South Wales.

Fun Fact
I’m passionate about the outdoors and find inspiration in nature, whether trekking mountains, protecting wildlife, or rolling my sleeves up and getting involved in community service.
